Mike is a native of California but is extremely happy to be a South Carolinian.

Mike's life has been one of adventure.    As a student in high school, he was an exchange student in Equador for several months.  To this day he loves the Spanish language.

Mike served as a Captain in the US Army flying Chinook helicopters in Vietnam and Germany.  He continued flying helicopters in civilian aviation for another 20 years.  Then Mike worked for the State of California in law enforcement for a number of years before following God's call to go into ministry.

After completing his theological studies (Master of Arts Theological Studies and Master of Divinity) Mike was called to be pastor of McBee Presbyterian Church in August 2007.  Mike is currently studying for his Doctor of Ministry degree.

Mike is married to Pam, a native of North Carolina.  They consider themselves to be partners in ministry.  Mike also has a son and two daughters, all have been blessed with children of their own.  There are a total of eight grandchildren.

As there were in Old Testament times elders for the government of the people, so the New Testament Church provided persons with particular gifts to share in governing and ministry.

Elders are chosen by the people. Together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, they exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a particular church as well as the church at large, including ecumenical relationships.  They shall serve faithfully on the session.  When elected commisioners to higher governing bodies, elders participate and vote with the same authority as ministers of the Word and Sacrament, and they are eligible for any office.

The session is responsible for the mission and government of the particular church.
